I love writing. There's just something about thoughtfully crafting sentences to convey precisely the right thoughts and feelings to the reader.
On this page, I introduce my published works.
A practical transformation toolkit and step-by-step roadmap that organizations can use to make their economic activities more sustainable and regenerative.
The Stellar Approach is published by Chicago University Press in the US and Campus Verlag in Germany.
The rigid and hierarchical organizations of yore are struggling to move fast in today's VUCA-world. The Loop Approach lays out a team-based, iterative curriculum for change that enables any organization, regardless of size, to transform itself into a nimble operator.
The Loop Approach is published by Chicago University Press in the US and Campus Verlag in Germany. It is available in three languages and is used by many organizations of all sizes. See what people are saying about the English version and the German version.
I write a monthly column on work topics for Kauppalehti, the largest business magazine in Finland, which reaches around 600k people each week. So far, I've written about topics like meetings, power, feedback, helping introverts thrive, and the intersection of parenting and career. You can find my writings here, but they're behind a paywall and, if that's not enough of a hurdle, only available in Finnish.
In 2017, I was at the first ultrasound for our second daughter when my phone rang. A new publisher had acquired the rights to the book above and asked me whether I'd like to work on a sequel. I said that it wasn't a good time to talk. But later I said yes. The product took the form of a card deck, which was an interesting new format. We had many new and exciting experiments, and the product sold well, so I'm hopeful it has inspired some young scientific minds.
In 2014, we decided to try something new in the content team at Blinkist. Instead of a traditional hierarchy, we cherry-picked some of the easy aspects of Brian Robertson's fantastic Holacracy, and created our own version: Blinkracy. Key principles were distributed authority, effective meetings, and a human-centric approach to work. It worked well enough that in less than a year, Blinkracy was the operating system for the whole company. This ebook lays out the basics of the system. See what people are saying about it on Goodreads (4.3/5 stars).
In 2009, I had the idea that it would be great fun to devise various at-home science experiments for kids to spark their interest in STEM-fields. I convinced the third largest publisher in Finland to take a chance with me, and in 2010, we published our book. I still love the experiments and am in awe of the illustrations by the incredible Pasi Pitkänen.
